There is no mention of OVF and this utility looks. I tried using this but it only seems to want to convert from VSphere/VCenter to Hyper-V. Based on the recommendation of VMware we plan to reinstall ESXi on a RAID 1 disk array.

I see there is a utility call Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter (MVMC). One node is a Witness host and the other two are production ESXi-Hosts (VMware ESXi, 6.5.0 / vSphere Client 6.5.0) where ESXi is to be reinstalled. I would like to convert this over to Hyper-V, running on Windows 10. Updated post for Workstation 12. So I can sensible move this firstly to the correct location and then it should be like an import so completing my process to move a VM to a different machine but,ฤก. I currently have a virtual lab running on VMWare Workstation 15. So I can from File, Open and Select the Clone folder from last step and it know It was moved or copied. Completed fine which creates a clone and I can fire up login and networking etc. So I then did a CLONE of the latest SNAPSHOT - option "current state inn the virtual machine", full clone, saved it to the default location it suggested.

Selected one of the ISO files imported fine and started to run but began the install of the UBUNTU server and not IMPORT the VM to the lastest snapshot. So then within VMware workstation pro I selected File, New Virtual Machine as normal, Normal and selected installed disk image and browsed to where I exported my OVF and there are 2 ISO files, I assume due to having done 2 snapshots of the VM's to get to the final cusotmized verision. It will start importing the file & you will can the see the progress bar for the import. Set the desired location for the vmware import & do Import. Use Open a virtual machine & browse the path where you have extracted the file.

So, selected the VM, clicked on Export to OVF - selected destination all completed. It is a zip file, let the download get completed & extract the same archive file. So I needed to create an OVF file so I can import into other hosts taking on all the configuation/customization completed. Tested via logging onto the image via a browser working as expected. Type a name for the virtual machine, type or browse to the directory for the virtual machine files, and click Import. Running VM Workstatio Pro, installed Ubuntu from an ISO file then added a number of packages to create a working server including the creation of a website and import of a cusotmised database.
